Finding My Feet, Regaining My Balance
It has been an entire month since you've last heard from me. I've been MIA from all my social media too. RIGHT in the middle of Blogmas and everything! It's a tragedy, really.
If you want to skip the catch up and read the blog update then scrooooll down now.
I last left off on my third day of the 12 Days of Blogmas. I was celebrating some wonderful news alongside my birthday and a Christmas party so everything was pretty busy. It was the best night I've had in a long time and the most amazing birthday since my mum's famous princess-themed parties (which I miss a lot BTW). I was on such a high! My head finally hit the pillow as the morning sun was kissing the back of my heels as I climbed the steps to my apartment. The next day was a warm, glowy blur. It was the mid afternoon when we emerged from safe cocoon of our dark bedroom, Chris and I had stuff to do.
Gingerly hugging a cup of tea and basking in the aching smiles of last night, we planned our grocery list and to-dos for the rest of that Saturday's afternoon. Our fantasy shattered when a tall, lean guy fumbled his way into the kitchen. The new housemate.
You see, we have this great deal where our rent is cheap if we welcome some workers into our spare rooms for the harvest period; "8 weeks of the year, tops!". Doesn't sound so bad until you realise it can be anyone. Anyway, the latest Straggler rolls in, shattering our comfortable & happy ambience. I slip into the room to put on a bra and a pair leggings that didn't have pugs on them, you know, look like an adult. I left the housemate to do his thing. I drafted and redrafted my next Blogmas post but I was in a funk.
Then shit happened. The Sunday was our typical Sunday; slow wakeups, love songs on the radio, reminiscing over pancakes. Except this time, not only with the addition of a stranger but also followed by a hearty dose of The Flu. Chris and I were absolutely floored by it. He attempted work the following morning but an hour later he was back home and in bed again. We also had a flight back to Ireland for our Christmas holidays on Wednesday but we were so ill I was fully prepared to cancel.
Long story short, we made it home to the hills of Donegal and I got to kiss the coast line once again. Christmas was a fog too; it consisted of waking up, popping pain killers and slugging through family meetups and errands, totally dying with this flu crap. A lot of my friends left for university pretty quickly after Christmas so I missed a lot of them. But it was still a great trip. A lot more family orientated which was nice because I haven't been home in a year. Though, before I knew it our 3 weeks was up and we were loading up on a plane again.
When we touched base, I began planning and getting excited for the new year. That's where you come in! I'm going to share with you my blog updates for 2017.
