If there's a way To save time and money then I'm in! Here are a few of my favourite tried-and-tested Beauty Hacks that are bound to make your day quicker and easier!
Don't you hate it when your breaking in a new pair of shoes and you can just feel that blister burnin' into your feet? Damn it! But wait! Here's how you can stop it! When you put on your shoes and test a little for where it may rub. Slip 'em off and slick a little Vasaline onto the spot. Same goes for uncomfortable bra straps or any other clothing niggles.
DIY Beachy Texture Surf Spray
€20 for a tiny bottle of Surf Spray?! You have got to be kidding me! Especially when you can't even pronunce half the ingredients. I love making up my own Surf Spray because I can totally customise it. My recipe has 3 main ingredients: ❤250ml warm water ❤1Tbs Sea Salt ❤1tsp Olive Oil. Mix, shake, spray!
You can use any oil you prefer. The oil adds back any nutrients or moisture the salt with take from your hair. Osmosis, baby! (google it) You can also add:
- 1tsp gel to hold and set your style. I prefer to use a matte kind.
- 1tsp conditioner to create a leave-in conditioner effect.
- 2-3 drops of essential oil like Eucalyptus (encourages circulation) or Lavender (for growth)
"Better than your A.M. coffeee!"
When you wake up in the morning and you literally can't keep your eyes open you're inclined to reach for that trusty cup of joe! Here's the thing. That groggy, sleepy feeling is partly because your dehydrated so starting your day with coffee will only leave you more dehydrated! I keep a glass of water next to my bed to sip in the night but also to chug first thing in the morning. If you need a bigger boot up the bum, opt for a cold, chilled glass of water. You'll be feeling invigorated in no time!☀
Easier-to-Sharpen Liner Pencils
I don't know how many pencil sharpeners I have scrubbed, dumped or thrown in the dish washer trying to get eye liner out of it! Or how many liner pencils I have destroyed repeatedly sharpening them and then breaking off. GRRRRR! Well here's the trick! Pop your pencil in the freezer for a couple hours first. Some say to leave them in for 30 minutes which might work for you but I prefer the outcome when I forget I put them in there for a few hours.
Better than Lush lip scrub
I love nothing more than the way my lipsticks apply after a good lip scrubbin'. It's super simple too and mild so great for sensitivity or whatever. All you need is a teaspoon of brown/white sugar or coffee grinds (I find salt is too harsh) and a little drop or 2 of olive oil. Mix into a paste adjusting the quantities as you need.
Then simply rub it over your damp lips with your finger or with a dry toothbrush, rinse off and pat dry. i love to follow it with my favourite lip balm to lock in my smoooothiness.
Long-Lasting lipstick what won't need touched up
I love lipsticks, particularly the matte kind. But I hate when I transfers onto clothes, drinks and my boyfriend. I think I talked a little about this in my Loreal Blake lipstick review (pictured). When I apply my lipstick to freshly scrubbed lips I rarely use a liner but you may if you wish. It's all about layers. Here's my routine:
- I apply one coat of lipstick
- Blot with some tissue
- Apply a second coat
- Hold a thin piece of tissue over your lips, dust with translucent powder
- Apply third coat
- Repeat the dust, apply and blot once more
- Finish by pulling your index finger through your lips like a lollipop and lightly dust some powder on your lips without the tissue.
Depending on your colour you may want to blot or apply another coat, it's up to you. But now there will be dense coating of colour on your lips with plenty of powder to stop it budging! Go and try it now, I swear it works!
Those are my six beauty hacks that I use almost daily! You can tweak and play around with them to see what works for you, that's the un part. DO you have any time saving beauty hacks? Why not share them below!
