Slendertoxtea "Teatoxing" Results
For the last 2 weeks I have been taking part in the 14 day Teatox cleanse from slendertoxtea. A a once-a-day habit guaranteed to bring health benefits but was it all it's cracked up to be? You can read my Introduction to Teatoxing here and my First Day of the Teatox here to get a better idea of the product and my initial start. I really recommend reading those 2 posts before you attempt a teatox as I cover all possible side effects and questions you may have. Read on to see how I found the entire 'tox.
***This will get a little gross but if I don't tell you the nitty gritty you could regret trying a teatox. If you're not keen on the icky bits just skip to the bottom***
Okay, confession time. I didn't finish the teatox. *Gulp* I have a good reason I swear! I made the bright decision to start the teatox right before my trip overseas ...yes yes hold your sarcastic applause please. AAAnd when I was on my way home from the trip I remembered about the forgotten tea, actually I realised I did so as I was boarding my bus to the airport...crap. However I did complete (what felt like the longest) 9 days of the teatox, meaning I still have 5 days work of tea left. I was going to have them posted over buuuut I didn't think re-starting late or whatever would be a good idea. However I do feel like I was going long enough to really experience the 'tox.
I think to sum up my entire experience in one word I would have to say uncomfortable. Yeah really. It was great for kind of rebooting my new years health kick but at a squidgy cost...
I can describe the tea and it's smell and taste in as much depth as you could possibly want but in all fairness you drink one cup in the morning and one every second night. If you can't handle the taste for one measly, lukewarm cup then please just pack your things and leave...#sorrynotsorry. LULZ. Anyway, You gives a crap about the taste, its all about those sweet, sweet results; increased energy, feeling refreshed, potential weight loss, colon cleanse...
The "side effects"
Okay let's just get this yucky bit out of the way: The major side effect no blogger wants to talk about. My "upset" stomach. I would wake up feeling grand, I'd go and have my tea (brewed in lukewarm water for 2 minutes) about 6:30am. By about 12:30pm I was hit by this incredible cramps. I'm not even sure how to describe it I just knew I was either going to be sick or crap everywhere (haha total honesty!). I never once vomited, it's not that kind of tea but it was just that type of stomach pain you just associate with vomiting. I could hold off the feeling if I needed to, it's not like having food poisoning. The day following the night time tea is pretty rough, just picture that twice in a day! Can't picture it? Here let me help. I would take the tea about 8pm (which is about 2 hours or so after my dinner) then I'd go to bed at 10 pm. The night time tea does state it takes 10 hrs before the "side effects" kick in. So when I get up at 6am I gotta goooooo. I did experiment with the time to see what worked best for me. But my advice to anyone who tries or is on the Teatox is Don't trust a fart. It never happened but it's generally how I felt like all day errryday.
The benefits and their actual results
I didn't have an increase of energy...I kind of felt like I was just getting over a stomach bug so compared to that, sure, I was feeling spritely! If anything else, I was feeling a little wiped from the intensity of teatox. As a result (and as per the advice of the lovely Kat from SlenderToxTea) I reduced brewing time dramatically to just colouring the water with the tea bag. Things solidified a little more, cramping eased and I started to feel a little more normal after a day or 2.
As for the weight loss (which isn't a direct benefit of the tea but rather a result of the boosted metabolism) there was a little! However I think it was water weight and then the fact my food wouldn't stay in me long enough to even contribute to my weight. I lost about 1 to 1.5kg APPROXIMATELY. A Lot of people say they had no weight loss at all but I think mine is down to my eating habits (which I am still maintaining!) you can read about those here. You shouldn't really lose more than that in such a short space of time, if you do, you should see a doctor because you could become malnourished. But as I said, I definitely think it was water weight because physically there is no changes. Remember, of course your own results will very from person to person so don't beat yourself up! A good diet and plenty of exercise and you will be as fit as a fiddle in no time! See the "Before and After" below:
Ha ha man I look awkward... Things I do for you guys! Yeah you can totally tell I was trying to quickly pose after pressing the countdown on my camera in that second picture.
And with those hilarious shots I will conclude this graphic description of my teatoxing experience! My overall experience was anything less than pleasurable especially given my lack of energy and possessed stomach but what I did take from it was some new, better eating habits and more motivation to get in exercise where I can. I would suggest after the 'tox to ease back into the tea, coffee, salt and sugars again and for a week or 2 really amp up your veggies and fruits to get your vitamin levels back up to normal.
Have you tried the Slendertox Teatox or any other time for that matter? How did you get on? I'd love to read your stories below!
