Organic Skincare: AEOS 3 Phase Care Review
AEOS, Active Energised Organic Skincare is the latest, revolutionary brand from the UK who is re-defining and re-assessing today's approach to skincare with their 3-phase natural, organic and bio-dynamic system. Combining old techniques with new, AEOS offer an incredible range of products that is considered "unique in the history of skincare". I was sent some samples to give them a whirl and tell you what I think!
I was sent this darling little sample kit from AEOS after being contacted to try it. I will tell you more on how you can get your hands on your own samples at the end of the post.
Inside were samples of 6 Skincare products as part of the 3-phase system; Renewal, Rebalance, Replenish.
Phase 1: Renewal
For the first phase you begin with damp skin, apply the Gentle Cleansing Lotion, then the Gentle Exfoliant.
The Gentle Cleansing Lotion is a light, creamy formula which promises to remove make-up and impurities while maintaining moisture balance in the skin. I found this a little tricky to use. AEOS recommend applying to damp skin as the water stimulates the active plant and fruit oil extracts. However when I rubbed it into my skin as instructed it felt a little slimy, like it was just gliding over my skin rather than melting into it. I washed it off and began again with a damp skin (from patting with a damp, squeezed out cotton pad) but this time I applied the product to a damp cotton pad and rubbed it over. This felt more effective but I felt I needed more product than if I was to use it with my fingers. This stuff smelt amazing though! It smelt really fresh and natural, like a sort of plant-y smell(?). My skin didn't feel hugely different. Like, after I used it I didn't notice my skin feeling cleaner or fresher it just sort of felt washed. I had no issue with irritation etc. I'm not sure if I'd purchase it individually. Then again if I had more of the product I might feel better about it. This cleanser cost £49.99 for 75ml and has won Natural Health Magazine Beauty Awards 2014.
The Gentle Exfoliant is pretty similar in smell and consistency as the cleanser except it has little exfoliating beads. It's made up of plant and nut oils which encorage correct hydration durring exfoliation. I found the little beads to be too big and it felt more like occasional scratching rather than exfoliation. Also, the same thing as the cleanser, it kind of felt like it was rubbing over my skin rather than into it and the beads, like I said, were too large and kept dispersing between my fingers and off my face. After using a sizable amount to finally feel exfoliated my skin felt quite soft and fresh. I experienced no pain or discomefort or sensitivity whilst using this exfoliant. It costs £35.98 for 35ml and has won Natural Health Magazine Beauty Awards 2013 and 2014.
Phase 2: Rebalance
To rebalance skin after cleansing, you use the Energising Conditioner, followed by the Hydrating Mist. Yep you heard me...
The Energising Conditioner is a balancing conditioner...I suppose it helps your skin get its's natural balance of oils without being too stripping or too oily. It's got lots of essential oils and plant extracts as well as gems and crystals to encourage hydration and moisture (yes, there is a difference!) It is also going to "soothe, calm and soften" your skin. It soaks in quite quickly and has that yummy natural smell, similar to the other products. I didn't notice any immediate differences other than my skin didn't feel tight or dry after washing. I suppose in conjunction to the use of the products I did think my skin looked healthy and well...normal. This conditioner costs £54.99 for 30ml and has won the Natural Health Magazine Beauty Awards 2014 as well as being commended by the Free From Skin Care Awards 2014.
The Refreshing Hydrating Mist is actually quite lush and I keep it in my handbag for little mists throughout the day. You spritz it on after the conditioner to deliver a delicate level of hydration to refresh and balance the skin. You could use this during the day if you find your skin gets oily and your make-up melts off or if you skin looks dry and flakey by lunch time... A quick mist and a touch up and your good to go. It felt lovely and cooling on my skin, I really liked this one! You can get the Mist for £54.99 for 100ml and has won the Natural Health Magazine Beauty Awards 2014.
Phase 3: Replenish
To finish up your new and complex routine, you apply the Realive Serum to your still damp face and follow it up with the Enriching Moisturiser.
The Realive Serum is quite silky and glided on quite deliciously. This one is quite a serious aul product containing all the usual organic...biodynamic...oils...yada yada except this also contains Hyaluronic Acid (which of course came from a natural source). This helps smooth and plump skin, deminishing the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, It also reduced signs of both premature and current aging and offers an appearance of radiancy to the complexion. If your not a huge serum fan yet (and by now you should be!) then you can also just apply this around the eye area to reduce and prevent fine lines. I also really really hearted this product and I would honestly say if you buy one thing from these guys, be it this!! It costs £105 for 50 ml tooooooootally worth it) and won the Natural Heath Magazine Beauty Award 2014.
The Enriching Moisturiser will just seal the deal for all the yummy, positive goodness you just spent 20 minutes rubbing on your skin. It's a light and non-greasy and fast absorbing to keep up the protection and hydration of the skin. If you have dry skin and thinking oooh it might be too light then think again! A have-r of dry skin myself, when used with some or all of the products from AEOS, your skin's moisture levels are already balancing themselves out so when you get to this step, you now have plump, non-flakey skin! They recommend this product is especially good for enviromentally damaged, tired, or skin exposed to air-con. I felt this was the cherry on top of a beautiful, natural, organic cake. It was smooth to apply and soaked in quickly. My skin felt soft and fresh. This moisturiser cost £58.99 for 50ml and was commended by the Natural Health Magazine Beauty Award 2012 and later won the same award in 2014.
AEOS products have been designed to be used all together as a complete system. They also recommend using the system for at least 2 months to really see what all the natural, active ingredients can do for your skin. Personally, I noticed a small change in my skin even after the few days I was using it. My skin appeared clearer, plumper and fresher. It also looked a lot smoother and more even, I can only imagine what 2 months could do! I also felt more confident in my new, clean, balanced skin and I even went make-up free for quite sometime! (Until old habits kicked in again haha!)
AEOS also take great care in sourcing their ingredients as they are of utmost importance to the products. They like to grow as much of the ingredients they use at their Demeter-Certified biodynamic Shire Farm, also sourcing the other ingredients from biodynamic farms across the world. And incase you'd like to know:
I would definitely recommend the mist and the serum if you wasn't going to go for the whole 9 yards. However, if you would like to sample the whole 3 phase system, you can pick up your own sample kit for £4.80 here which contains 2 to 4 days worth of products. Cool, eh? AEOS also has a range of make-up, nail care and nutritional suplements as well as body lotions, bath salts etc so there is something for everyone! Be sure to check them out at AEOS.net.
