Review: It's Potent! Benefit Cosmetics eye cream
Benefit's It's Potent! eye cream promises to fade dark circles, smooth fine lines and brighten the eye area resulting in younger-looking eyes. With my little sample* in tow I decided to finally give it a review after a few weeks of use.
The best defense is a good offense. I believe this is how you should combat skin care issues such as aging, breakouts and even tiredness. However, when it comes to premature aging or tiredness your eyes are the first to give the game away. So before you even attempt to woo a potential lover with dull, dark-circled eyes let me tell you all about this little pot of wonders.
What's in it?
The site description tells you:
It's a little vague really, lotsa buzzwords. It's a water-based eye cream which means its nice and light and also non-greasy. The key thing this cream does is re-hydrating the skin. Theresa from Women's Blog Talk explains each ingredient for you if you'd like to know more.
What the cream is like?
Inside the beautiful tinted glass jar is an off white, slightly yellow cream. It's very light and smooth in consistency so it glides on really well. It smells slightly sweet but the chemical smell is a little more noticeable unfortunately.
How does it apply?
Like I said, it applies really smoothly. Benefit reccomends applying it delicately under your eyes but as long as your gentle, focus it where you feel you need it. Maybe its the dark circles and fine lines or the little creases at the edge of the eye. It sinks into your skin quickly and doesn't leave behind a greasy film (which normally makes your makeup crease). For me it felt a little bit tingly and cool and once it had sank into my skin, the area felt a little firmer but not dry or uncomfortable.
The end result?
It began to work as soon as it was on, like I mentioned; the tingly sensation. After a few moments of applying the rest of my skin care routine there was already noticable positive effect. Fine lines were less noticable and the dark circles had lighted. After a further 20 minutes or so the puffiness around my eyes had completely supsided and my eye area did infact look alot fresher and brighter.
Ah my very attractive sleepy face!
Although there is very clear signs the product had worked It's not going to work permanently meaning you will be out a fortune on this stuff!! It costs £25.50 for the full sized 14.2g/0.5oz jar. I feel thats very expensive and most of its going on the adorable glass jar. Maybe if benefit offered refills at a slightly less price I'd be okay with it. I found this product to be very very similar to the same sized jar of Soap & Glory Puffy Eye Attack Turbo-boost Hydragel for £12.50 which infact I found performed better at giving fresher, brighter eyes and at less than half the price of the price. I also feel that plenty of water would also fix the same issues these creams promise to eliminate, for completely free too might I add...
Yes, It's Potent! is a very good cream and it does infact work so if it does what you need it to do and your happy to pay for it by all means I give it the Thumbs Up! However I do feel there are better products out there.
Have you tried any of Benefit's skin care line? There are some products in it I like more than others in it so if you'd like more reviews do please let me know. Until next time!
