30 day fitness challenge: Yoga with Adriene
I have always been a somewhat active person and just recently I went to piloxing twice (sometimes 3 times) a week for an hour a session for about 4 months (end of 2014). It was a really fun, intense combo of Pilates, Boxing and Salsa dancing, crazy right? Buuuut there's no Piloxing classes where I am in Switzerland :( I had been leading towards yoga now for a while for many reasons and then I found this free challenge on YouTube.
For me, Yoga is a great idea. I can do it at my leisure on my bedroom floor (while Chris giggles at me failing) and it would definitely help to loosen me up. I am the most inflexible person in the world. Like I am not even exaggerating; the thought of touching my toes aches!
I originally found out about the 30 Days of Yoga from Anna over on Vivianna Does Makeup (click to see her post). Anna is on day 24 of the 30 plan so after hearing about her experience I went to check it out.
How it works
You can simply jump right into the tutorials here or you can subscribe to her 30 days newsletter where she will talk to you a little about each day's routine and what to focus on. It's really simple to follow with videos ranging from 15 minutes to 30 minutes a day so just squeeze it in when you can and reap the rewards!
After my first session
After I had some breakfast, I threw open my shutters (okay, perhaps a little gingerly..) and I loaded up her video on the floor in front of me. The sunlight bathed over me while the sound of little birds chirping and children going to school soothed on the gentle mountainous breeze.
After the 30 minute video flew in I began to awaken from my Savasana pose with a soft buzz of tingly energy. I felt so calm and loose, like I had been pulled apart but in an oddly pleasant way. I felt so at peace and ready for the day that I could just easily and logically tackle my daily tasks. It was challenging but Adriene's gentle voice pushed you on. I am definitely going to keep this up!
I'm really pleased I found this and I look forward to continuing it tomorrow! What's your thought, would you like to give it a go too? From beginner to expert, this is an excellent opportunity to get back in touch with yourself. I'll keep you posted on my progress!
