First Impressions: L'Oréal Infallible Stay Fresh 24Hr Foundation
I hate foundation shopping. I honestly get so tired and bored and frustrated that I just go home empty handed. I am honestly yet to buy a foundation that I'm 100% happy with! I think it's because of the whole shade thing, I'm incredibly pale. Sigh.
Anyway, the hunt was on after I had to admit to myself that my gel fountation for the summer was no longer suitable for the winter months. I need something a little fuller coverage and a little more long lasting.
I had picked up the L'Oreal infallible 24r Matte but It was just too powdery for my liking despite the colour match. The Stay Fresh version tempted me because it promises to "fight makeup meltdoen" and is also enriched with hydrating hyaluron.
I ordered the shade 125 Natural Rose after an impressive swatch in store. When it arrived I had that oh crap feeling as I pumped out quite a dark product onto my hand. I failed to notice there was a shade Vanilla which the store didn't have but It's the same shade as the Matte one I bought so I could've got on better with that one. Fail.
The Initial Impression:
The bottle is really nice; glass with a plastic pump and cap. It holds comfortably in the hand and the pump doesn't feel cheap and shitty. The little cap is quite secure too so I'd have no worries about it in my makeup bag. The product is thicker than normal, it feels more like a moisturiser.
9 AM: The Application
I pumped out 1 pump onto my hand. Okay wierdest sentance ever?! Then I dotted it over my face with my finger tips, blending it out with a damp Real Techniques sponge. The coverage was definately medium but certainly buildable. A second half-pump had the redness around my nose and my under eye circles concealed. My skin looked very even and smooth.
It gave a really beautiful demi-matte finish that didn't look greasy or shiny. It just looked like healthy, glowy skin! I did powder my T zone and under my eyes lightly just cause that's what I do.
1PM: The Check In
After making and scarfing down lunch with the housemates I checked how I was looking. At this point I normally look in the mirror and see creases and patches and ick. But I was pleasantly suprised. My makeup looked freshly applied.. Even on my nose! No wierd clumps or creases. It had thinned a little over my chin but it was still there and it still looked good.
3PM: The Post 4K Walk Check In
Is stuff even real?! Not even kidding. It's still perfectly even, my dry areas haven't got the better of me and left me in patches. I was shiny over my T Zone, mind you. It does look a little shinier in the photo than in real life btw. I'd say I could do with a wee powder perhaps. I'm. So. Freaking. Impressed. Dammit.
5PM: The Last Sun Lit Check in
So I wouldn't say 24hrs. I mean maybe if you wasn't running around all day or you wore it to an event but at this point in the day I need to touch up and re-powder. If I was going out tonight, I'd alter my eye makeup, remove the foundation and reapply it. Regardless, I'd say this would've lasted well if I'd maintained it as I normally would do through out the day.
THE OVERALL OPINION:
I think I'm in love...haha okay well I am but not with this foundation *wink*. But I do think this foundation is pretty incredible. It felt light on my skin, like I wasn't wearing anything at all (Flanders just popped in my head..nothing at all!) It does have SPF 18 which and a buildable coverage so it makes a great daytime foundation. If this product didn't have SPF I'd replace my entire foundation collection with this range for my clients. Yep, love it that much! I had no issue with oxidation either, praise the foundation lords.
I ordered mine from Feel Unique for €16.78 but I see it's gone up to €17.27...has it changed for everyone else? It was great using Feel Unique because they ship globally (depending on the product) for free and you can set your currency too which was great because I didn't have to pay a euro/franc exchange rate.
I hope you found this first impressions useful! As always, leave any questions in the comments below. If you've tried out this product or the matte version please share your thoughts and application method too.
